With Easter on the horizon it’s time to get signed up to our RAF 100 Celebrations.

Easter Saturday begins with a daytime rally and timed passage race to Marchwood YC for lunch, making use of their walk ashore facilities and warm hospitality, all aided by a very accommodating spring tide. The Rally sign up sheet will be on the club noticeboard this weekend, so please get signed up for the first rally of the year.

New members and Crew Members are particularly welcome, so if you have a boat and need crew, or want a boat to join in on, please sign up and let me know what you are looking for.

The rally will be followed by a themed cocktail party then supper (see sign up sheet) with ever popular entertainment from Deano, providing an evening of Swing and Dance. Dress is optional, either WW1, WW2, RAF, or formal dress as members prefer. It’s going to be a big party night for the club!

Then it’s Ton Up Sunday, an open day and members party day to celebrate the actual 100th anniversary of the formation of the RAF. We intend to hold a boat procession from outside the club to Calshot Castle, the original home of the RAF Flying Boat Squadron, where we will dip our ensigns to our forebears and return to the club for the party. Please support your club and sign up for this parade of boats. It would be splendid If your boat can be dressed overall, but otherwise, please fly club burgees, battle flags or whatever you can muster. A sign up sheet will be posted for this by the weekend.

The party and open day starts in earnest at midday, with a musical tribute to Vera Lynn, supporting music, a traditional sailors hornpipe dance by the club flagpole, buffet lunch service, barbecue and an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. All followed by an enhanced Happy Hour late afternoon.

All members are welcome and are encouraged to bring as many guests with them as they wish. Please, please support your club for these very important celebrations.
