Newtown Creek Rally

Newtown Creek Rally

Jul 16 - Jul 17

Newtown Creek Rally"For those who have not attended this rally before, there is not a dinner to be pre-booked and no berths to reserve. Newtown Creek is a National Trust area and has no fore and aft trots, nor a marina. There are visitors swing moorings but not very many. We usually raft up to two boats per mooring but you will have to be in the creek early to bag one! Otherwise, you have to anchor in the creek but the anchorage is a safe if crowded one. Weather permitting, we usually gather for a barbecue on the beach near the entrance or in the car park. The exact location will depend on wind direction of course and if the weather is poor (rain, very cold, etc.) we will no doubt have to stay on our boats. You will need a dinghy to get ashore. We are not allowed to light fires for cooking etc. and most people take a portable cooker, either gas powered or the charcoal equivalent, obtainable from supermarkets and most outdoor shops. Bring lots to eat and drink and bring your kids. They will love it! Finally, we must observe the regulations pertaining to this area, which is a wildlife sanctuary. So no litter and no open fires.Timing-wise, I suggest about 5pm for the barbie. No pontoon parties (there are no pontoons!). Drinks on the beach!!
