Announcing the Saturday ‘On The Water Fun Treasure Hunt’.
Open to all club members on any type of vessel – if you dont have one, borrow one, and join in the fun. Prizes to be won!

The challenge will consist of 3 parts:
- A navigational exercise – this will be a set of questions that will require navigation around Southampton Water and the nearby Solent and answering a set of questions using your navigational skills
- A general knowledge quiz with a sailing theme – a set of general knowledge questions to be answered without use of the internet and using only the resources you have on our boat and in your head
- A practical challenge – you will be asked to make or do something using only what you have on your boat on the day and this will be judged in a contest on shore
The navigation element should take around 2 hours and we will allow a generous window to complete the activity. There will be a deadline to hand in the questions sheets and the on shore challenge will take place
The rules:
Each crew will be handed a sealed envelope at the club on the day. This must not be opened until the crew is on the boat and after the appointed start time of the event
No use of phones or other internet access is permitted – this includes for the navigational exercise so don’t forget your paper charts and hand bearing compass!
For all challenges you can only use what is on your boat or in the envelope
The envelopes with the written answers must be handed to the judging committee by the appointed time. These will be assessed and marked prior to the practical judging
Judging of the practical challenge will take place at an appointed time once all crews are back at the club. The judging criteria will be stated in the instructions
The judges’ decisions are final.
