Battle of Britain Commemoration 2026 18th – 20th September – Volunteers Needed
This is our annual event to commemorate the huge effort and the fortitude of the people of Britain, of all nationalities, and the role the RAF played in the Battle of Britain campaign, the valiant ‘Few’, to recognise the losses and celebrate the hope it brought for our futures.

This is an event for ALL our members to participate, with shoreside activities, and afloat, with a treasure hunt and two days racing in the Regatta, that has been growing from strength to strength in recent years.
To make all this work we need Club members to volunteer their time prior to and on the weekend from Friday through to Sunday.
We are in the detail planning stages looking for members to come forward, volunteering their time, helping the Hospitality and Sailing Committee members that make all our events possible, with your help we want to make this event an even bigger success this year!
We need people who can help with the lead up and most importantly commit to be available the weekend 18th – 20th September to help with the ashore activities and on the race committee vessels. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to lend a hand.
Last year Dreamtime, had a crash course in what needs to be done, when with race crew, stepped in as Committee Vessel (CV), as the Club Member, thank you Chris, who had volunteered as CV dropped out with a technical issue.
We had a great time that close to the racing, learnt a lot, hoisting/dropping flags and sounding hooters, learning what is involved from the Race Team who boarded Dreamtime that morning.
We had a great weekend, even if we did miss participating in the racing, and really appreciate the efforts these volunteers put in making the regatta a success.
Finally, mainly for those considering racing in the Regatta either for the first time or as a regular, there will be another Race skills weekend – dates 19-21 June, run by HRSC, this is similar to last year.
